Northernhay is built from the distinctive brown carrstone which is common to this part of Norfolk. It has a tiled roof, leaded windows and several distinctive 'Arts & Crafts' features. You can see the sea from the conservatory and some of the bedrooms. There is a very pretty, small, enclosed garden running along the west side of the house, and at the back of the house is a gravel area which provides parking for two cars plus a garage. The parking area is secured by double gates which open onto a small private lane.

On the ground floor of the house is a large drawing room with a bay window looking onto
Boston Square. There is a television and video and lots of videos to keep the children happy. As well as the drawing room there is a sitting/dining room with French doors opening onto the garden. The dining table will seat ten adults. There is also a small table in the kitchen.

The house has gas central heating, and both the drawing room and the dining/sitting rooms have 'real flame' gas fires as well.

Also on the ground floor there is a largish kitchen (with cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher), a pantry, utility room (with washing machine and dryer) and downstairs loo/shower room. The back door to the utility room opens straight onto the parking area.

Upstairs, on the first floor, there are four double bedrooms. All of them are a reasonable size. Bedrooms 1, 2 and 3 all have king size beds. Bedroom 4 has two adult single beds. There is a smaller childrens' room (with bunk beds), a bathroom and separate loo. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. As well as the main stairs there is a second staircase which leads down to the kitchen. Another staircase goes up to the box room at the top of the house. This is usually completely bare and makes a wonderful play area - or extra sleeping space if you need it. We will provide all sheets, duvets and towels - but not beach towels.

Hunstanton, known locally as 'Sunny Hunny', is a delightfully old-fashioned seaside town and can be very busy in summer. There are plenty of shops including Tesco. From the house it is a five minute walk to the nearest beach (
North Beach) at the bottom of the cliffs. The tide goes out a long way revealing a large expanse of flat sand. It is completely safe for children and there is the added attraction of rock pools. For older children and adults South Beach (at the other end of the town) offers all sorts of watersports including canoeing, wind surfing and para-surfing.

Besides the beach and watersports there are some wonderful walks along the coastal path, which forms part of the
North Norfolk heritage coastline. There is golf at Old Hunstanton (1 mile), bird watching at Titchwell and lots of good pubs, including the Lifeboat at Thornham and the Lord Nelson at Burnham Thorpe.

Northernhay is a sunny, spacious Edwardian villa in Boston Square, Hunstanton - just five minutes walk from the seafront. This part of Hunstanton was originally developed at the turn of the last century when the town first became a fashionable seaside resort – and it now forms part of the cliff-top conservation area. Northernhay is spread over three floors and will comfortably sleep ten adults. As well as five bedrooms there are two bathrooms, kitchen, utility room, downstairs cloak room (with shower) dinning room, drawing room, conservatory and garden. The garden is enclosed and safe for children. In the summer we let Saturday to Saturday but for week-end breaks out of season we can do either a Friday or a Saturday start.
