On the
ground floor the cottage has a hall/dining room, loo/shower room, sitting
room, kitchen and a smallish bedroom (with double bed). The sitting room
has a hardwood floor, three comfortable sofas and log burner. It faces west
with views over the green. Upstairs there is a large bedroom (double bed)
with windows facing south and west and exposed beams. There are two more
bedrooms upstairs (one has twin beds and other is a single) and a bathroom.
The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge and electric oven
(with gas hob). Double doors open from the kitchen onto the garden at the
back of the house. The garden is very sunny (it faces south-west) and is
enclosed so it is safe even for small children.
Burnham Thorpe - the birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson - is one of the well
known, Norfolk ‘Burnhams’. It lies just over a
mile south east of Burnham Market and about three miles inland from the
beach at Holkham. Together the local villages and coastline form one of the
prettiest areas you will find in East Anglia. There are nature reserves just
along the coast to the west; Titchwell, which is renowned for its bird life
and Scolt Head Island – famous for its seal colony.
Other attractions include golf at Brancaster and Hunstanton, coastal walks
and several very good pubs, including the Hoste Arms at Burnham Market, the
Lifeboat at Thornham – and of course, the Lord Nelson in Burnham Thorpe
itself.
